The Twins beat the White Sox 3-2 Tuesday behind six strong innings from Michael Pineda, unlikely bullpen heroes, and Byron Buxton's magic. After losing six straight games, Rocco Baldelli held an impromptu team meeting after Monday's game to urge the team to move forward. The Twins' chances looked dire early again Tuesday when Eloy Jiménez ripped a two-run, first inning double into the left field gap. Those were the only runs Chicago would score all night. The Twins chipped away and benefitted from a José Abreu dropped ball at first and clutch pinch extra-base hits from Jake Cave (triple) and Luis Arráez (double). Byron Buxton kept the game in reach when he leaped and stole an Edwin Encarnación home run in centerfield. Buxton wasn't done contributing. With a tie game and two outs, Nelson Cruz stood on second in the bottom of the seventh. Buxton laced an 0-1 screamer single to left field to take the lead. Caleb Thielbar, Sergio Romo and Matt Wisler pitched scoreless frames to finish the game.
